Lack of Awareness
In my clinical practice, which I’ve been conducting since 1997, I’ve observed that approximately 5% of children have ADHD, but their parents often aren’t aware of it.
Many parents come to me with concerns about their child’s frequent cold, cough, asthma, bronchitis, or tonsillitis. During these consultations, I often discover that the child has ADHD, though the parents are unaware of it.
In India, doctors sometimes hesitate to diagnose ADHD because they fear the parents might react with shock or aggression. As a result, pediatricians who see the child for vaccinations may not diagnose ADHD.
When such children consult me for other issues, I consider ADHD in my analysis and provide holistic treatment. I find that as ADHD symptoms improve, other associated problems also tend to improve.
Early diagnosis and treatment of ADHD are crucial. Unfortunately, late diagnoses make it harder to treat ADHD effectively.
Homeopathy Treatment
Homeopathy, a natural treatment option, has been shown in various studies to effectively reduce ADHD symptoms like restlessness, lack of concentration, and impulsiveness, all without side effects.
Many parents initially start with allopathic treatments, which alter the brain’s chemical balance. These treatments often provide only short-term relief and can be habit-forming.
Over time, patients may experience side effects such as sleeplessness, anxiety, headaches, drowsiness, irritability, tics, stomach pain, loss of appetite, and increased heart rate or blood pressure.
When patients consult me for ADHD and are already on allopathic medications, I never advise them to stop these medications abruptly.
Instead, as the patient improves with homeopathy, their allopathic medications can be gradually reduced under the supervision of their doctor.
Patience is key in homeopathic treatment for ADHD. Improvements can take from 4 to 6 months to become noticeable, though some may see progress as early as the first month. Treating ADHD is a long-term commitment.
Number of Medicines
There are around 99 homeopathic medicines for ADHD. Deciding which medicines to use, their potency, and frequency is a complex process that requires a highly qualified and experienced doctor.
A competent doctor does not prescribe based solely on the disease name. Instead, they take a comprehensive history, study the symptoms in detail, and select medicines based on the patient’s individual needs, adjusting potency and dosage as necessary.
“Homeopathy is not readymade; it is tailor-made.”
When treating ADHD, I prescribe for one month and then review the patient’s progress. Each month, I re-evaluate the case to fine-tune the treatment.
The extent of improvement in ADHD depends significantly on the choice of doctor. Just as banks conduct KYC (Know Your Customer), patients should also do KYD (Know Your Doctor).
Name of Medicines?
In this blog, I have not named any specific medicines or promoted any company’s products. Doing so could be harmful and is not advisable. A responsible doctor would never take such risks.
